A man wanted out of Arkansas on a murder warrant was taken into custody in Tulia after a five-hour standoff on Aug. 7, along with a woman suspected of hiding him from law enforcement, authorities announced Friday.

At about 4:30 p.m. Thursday, the Tulia Police Department said it was notified that a person wanted for murder in Arkansas might be hiding in Tulia, police said in a Facebook post, and police along with the Swisher County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers immediately began working to confirm this information.

They determined Austin Lee Warren of Arkansas was likely in the area in the 300 block of South Austin with the aid of Desray Norene Guess. Law enforcement requested assistance from the Randall County Tactical Unit due to the nature of the charges against Warren and for
