GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Students and staff at an Alachua County elementary school are starting the school year in their newly renovated campus.
A ribbon-cutting was held at Littlewood Elementary on Friday morning.
Students were put at a temporary site at Westwood Middle School last school year -- while construction took place.

“A lot of the time, as I’m driving by, I’m thinking there’s no way that’s going to be done by August, but the design team and the building team did a great job, so many of the new spaces are just so beautiful but also functional so that’s what’s important to me,” said principal Justin Russell.
The project cost $37 million, and it is now ready for the first day of school, starting Mond
