The much-anticipated opening of the Wawa Travel Center in Hope Mills is set for late August.

The Pennsylvania-based chain of convenience stores and gas stations announced Aug. 28 will be the center’s opening date on the same day hundreds attended the grand opening Aug. 8 of Cumberland County’s first location at 3613 Raeford Road in Fayetteville. Wawa said it plans to open 90 stores in North Carolina over the next 8-10 years.
