SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. —

Spartanburg County officials reported Friday that the county experienced a cybersecurity incident earlier this week.

Scottie Kay Blackwell, the county communications manager, said the cyberattack immediately triggered a response from the network software, cybersecurity vendor, and law enforcement.

Blackwell said the attack was contained by the county's software platforms and personnel.

The county disabled certain connections and electronic services due to the attack and staff and security personnel continue to work to restore our systems, as well as the public’s access.

Spartanburg County Government Offices are open to the public, although some online services may be temporarily unavailable while we continue the restoration process.
