LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Arkansas Department of Transportation is gearing up to launch the first Arkansas road safety program for the 2025-2026 school year.

ARDOT officials said the Street Smart program’s goal is to push road safety habits for students before they begin driving and reinforce skills through their early driving years.

The program will launch Friday, Aug. 15.

The curriculum will be taught to students in sixth through eighth grade in Arkansas, with plans to incorporate it into K-12.

Street Smart was developed by ARDOT along with the Arkansas Department of Education, with input from Arkansas teachers and instructors.
