This is weird territory, personally speaking. 99.9 percent of the time, I’m all for players getting their money. Millionaires before billionaires and all of that. This particular case, though, with Cam Heyward wanting a new contract just over a year after he got a new one annoys me.
If you recall, last offseason Heyward was entering the final year of his deal. In the middle of the offseason, though, the two sides agreed on a two-year extension that would pay him just under $30 million over the duration of the deal. The 36 year-old then put together an All-Pro season – perhaps the best overall season of his career – and is now asking for more money, holding in at training camp and not practicing on Thursday.
