Chenango, N.Y. — An altercation Thursday night turned deadly when two men fatally stabbed each other during a confrontation, according to State Police.
The stabbings occurred around 11:15 p.m. at 1086 Castle Creek Road, Chenango, troopers said in a news release Friday. Chenango is a town of 10,832 bisected by Interstate 81 just north of Binghamton.
Jeffrey Ryan, 48, of Binghamton, drove to the home of Harry Swan, 50, and stabbed him during an initial confrontation outside the residence, troopers said.
After being stabbed, Swan retreated inside his home, where he obtained a knife and stabbed Ryan in return, they said.
Swan was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ryan was rushed to Wilson Hospital in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries.
