LAWRENCE — The momentum around the future of Kansas Athletics’ Gateway District project continued in recent days, with KU’s announcement Wednesday of a $25 million gift from alumni Paul DeBruce and Linda DeBruce.

The project, which includes the creation of a reimagined David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, will see the Kansas football team return to playing home games in Lawrence this fall. The first phase of the project has included the construction of new-look north, west, and southwest portions of the venue — with a conference center as a part of that.

Moving forward, as a Jayhawks release outlined, efforts will continue to be made to ensure the area is enhanced with commerce and entertainment facilities that will look to bring about economic growth year-round.
