Lanternflies have been spotted in 19 states, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. They have been seen in states from New York to North Carolina and inland. Spotted lanternflies were first recorded in Berks County, Pennsylvania, in 2014 and are native to countries in East Asia, such as China and Vietnam.
