Numerous police agencies in the Coachella Valley were facing a 911 outage Friday.

Cathedral City Police told residents to call a backup number for emergency services. The agency said the issue began shortly after 5:40 a.m. Friday.

Anyone requiring emergency assistance can call the department’s business line at 760-770-0303 to reach a dispatcher.

The cause of the outage was not immediately known.

Indio Police shared the same message to its residents on social media.

“Our 911 system, along with several other local agencies, is currently encountering problems. We are actively working with our service provide to restore it, though the exact timeline is currently unknown,” the department stated on X.

Police said updates will be shared on their social media once service is restored.
