Hell hath no fury like a Canuck scorned.

That’s what American winemakers are learning this year as U.S. wine to hurtle toward zero. Until recently, our neighbors to the north were the biggest international for American wine, but new figures released by the U.S. Census Bureau show that exports fell a staggering 96.8 percent in June this year compared to 2024.

That sales drop mirrors the 97.2 percent fall in May and a 93.2 percent collapse in April. All told, Canadians have purchased nearly $130 million less wine from the U.S. through the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. It’s truly a disaster for the already ailing American wine industry.
