U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders plans to hold rallies in North Carolina this weekend as part of his “Fighting Oligarchy” tour.
The independent Senator from Vermont is touring the country to speak out against the Trump administration. Sanders launched the tour in response to cuts by the Department of Government Efficiency, led by billionaire Elon Musk.
Sanders, who ran for president in 2016 and 2020 as a Democrat, plans to hold rallies in Greensboro and Asheville on Sunday. He plans to focus on how Medicaid cuts will impact rural hospitals and working class families, a Sanders spokesperson said .
The Greensboro rally is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts. The Asheville rally is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sunday at the Harrah's Cherokee Center.
