KINGSTON, N.Y. — A major portion of the large capital restoration project at the Senate House State Historic Site is now underway, with the repointing of mortar at the facility, according to a newsletter.

Because of the work, tours and museum visitation at Senate House are suspended until further notice.

“One of the important pieces of the project happening right now, is the restoration and repointing of the mortar on Senate House,” the newsletter said. “Over time, mortar joints age and crack, hampering the stability of the structure and making it more susceptible to water infiltration.
