LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- House plants can bring some life inside your home and can help keep you healthy.

If you're a beginner to house plants, there are some extremely low-maintenance plants that don't need much light and also don't need a ton of water.

The best first time house plant is a Pothos plant.

"These are going to be the ones that last through the apocalypse," said Jeff Wallitsch of Wallitsch Gardens. "The Pothos and the Twinkies will be the only things left on the shelf. So they're very tough. Water every two to three weeks. They can tolerate low light but they can also tolerate high light, just as long as its not direct sunlight."
