BOSTON (WWLP) - A former Massachusetts State Police trooper was sentenced to prison for his role in a conspiracy to falsify records for certain CDL applicants, including those who had failed or did not take the CDL skills test.
In a news release sent to 22News from the Department of Justice, 64-year-old Perry Mendes of Wareham conspired with others to give automatic passing scores to at least 17 CDL applicants on their skills tests regardless of whether they actually passed between January 2019 and April 2022.
Mendes was charged in a January 2024 indictment of 74 counts along with five others in the alleged conspiracy and related schemes. In July 2025 he admitted to his role in the alleged conspiracy, including that he cut skills tests short for “golden” applicants and entered false info
