WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - Hospitals and other health care providers in the north country are getting a share of $300 million the state is giving out to improve health care.

The biggest sum goes to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg, $18.2 million, to ‘modernize and relocate’ maternity services, acute and critical care and lab services onto one floor, surgical services from three floors to two.

River Hospital in Alexandria Bay is getting $1.5 million for a new mammography unit.

The North Country Family Health Center will get $650,000 to open a clinic in Lowville. It will be called the Lowville Health and Wellness Center.
