PLATTEVILLE – The University of Wisconsin football team dodged major trouble this week.
On Aug. 7, starting center Jake Renfro went down with what appeared to be a severe leg/knee injury during the team's practice at UW-Platteville's Pioneer Stadium . One day later the news was much more palatable for Badger fans.
According to a UW spokesman, Renfro suffered no significant structural damage and his playing status is considered week to week. The senior from Mokena, Illinois, has not been ruled out for the season opener Aug. 28 against Miami (Ohio).
But for the moment he'll watch fall camp from the sideline.
