Threats to Community Service Block Grant funding has left Ravalli County community support nonprofits like the Human Resource Council struggling to plan for the future.

Executive Director of District XI Human Resource Council Ruth Burke said the situation was “very worrisome.”

“The only development is that the Big Beautiful Bill has passed and that carried forward our funding until Sept. 30 of this year, so we still don’t know what’s going to happen,” Burke told the Ravalli Republic. “We’re not very far away from an unknown.”

The Community Service Block Grant (CSBG) is a block grant within the United States Department of Health and Human Services funding designated to remedying poverty across the country, primarily in rural and under-resourced communities.
