The Utah Supreme Court this week reversed a Third District Court decision dismissing charges against former Park City High School tennis coach Lani Wilcox, who was accused of assaulting a student athlete in 2022.
Oral arguments challenging Judge Richard Mrazik’s decision to close the case were heard in May. On Thursday, the justices ultimately sided with Summit County prosecutors seeking an appeal and remanded the case back to the Third District Court for further proceedings.
Wilcox was charged with aggravated child abuse, a third-degree felony, and one count of damage to a communication device, a class B misdemeanor, in September 2022 after an altercation with a player the month prior.
