A regional fundraiser led by Amarillo-area McDonald’s restaurants raised more than $7,700 for High Plains Food Bank and culminated in a check presentation Friday morning, Aug. 8, at the organization’s Amarillo headquarters.
The donation, part of McDonald’s quarterly Give Back Day program, was collected during a one-day fundraiser held July 29 across 15 McDonald’s locations in Amarillo, Canyon, Borger, Dalhart and Dumas. A portion of the day’s sales was set aside to benefit the food bank.
“We had a really good turnout,” said Stephanie Khayat, marketing coordinator for the Dana Organization, which owns the participating McDonald’s restaurants. “The food bank exceeded their original goal by about $2,000, and we were able to contribute more than $7,700. It shows how generous our community re
