Oakland County officials say they are working to mitigate raw sewage outflows into neighboring Macomb County following months of conflict and have met with state officials about their plans.

Oakland officials met with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy late last month after the state said it was pursuing “escalated action” against the county.

Oakland County Water Commissioner Jim Nash said his agency has shown EGLE that the county has decreased flow out of the Dequindre Interceptor. The outfall for the interceptor is in Warren, right by the Macomb-Oakland County border. The Red Run Drain flows into the Clinton River, which discharges into Lake St. Clair.
