HYDE PARK – A staffer at the Anderson Center for Autism in Hyde Park has been charged with holding a pillow against a resident’s face while restraining the individual’s arm.

Staff also reported fresh bruising on the victim’s chest, arms, and shoulder.

State Police at the Rhinebeck barracks investigated the incident that occurred on the morning of Saturday, August 2 and on Thursday, August 7 arrested Deijeanae Edwards, 22, of Poughkeepsie.

She was charged with a misdemeanor of endangering the welfare of an incompetent of physically disabled person.

Edwards was released on an appearance ticket pending a future court appearance.

The investigation is continuing.
