PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- A man was arrested Friday for allegedly murdering his mother's boyfriend, according to the Prince George's County Police Department (PGPD).

Police say officers responded to the 16000 block of Caribbean Way for reports of a shooting. There, they found 38-year-old Gene Garrett Jr., who had been fatally shot inside the home.

Officers arrested 24-year-old Clarence Green Jr., of Accokeek, at the scene in connection with the shooting.

Preliminarily, PGPD believes that Green shot Garrett because of an ongoing dispute and that the two were living together.

Green was taken to the Department of Corrections without bond and is being charged with first-degree murder, assault, and other additional charges.
