NORTH HAMPTON, N.H. —

For the second straight day, crews on Friday battled a large brush fire in North Hampton.

At this point, crews have been at the scene for more than 24 hours as they work to put out the brush fire.

Officials said the flames are 99 percent contained, but the fire has continued to burn inside the five-acre containment area, which is why 17 companies were called back to the scene again.

The fire was first reported shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday. Firefighters said people living in Rye and Hampton could see the smoke from the fire.

It took crews about 30 minutes to find the flames, which were about a mile into the woods behind the North Hampton School.
