BROOKLYN — MAYOR ERIC ADAMS allotted a $5.6 million funding increase for Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez’s office on Wednesday, part of a $633 million citywide budget hike for the city’s five district attorneys and the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor. The 23% rise, effective in fiscal year 2026, adds 20 assistant district attorneys and six paralegals to cut case backlogs, plus tech upgrades and restorative justice programs for gang-involved youth.

The move aims to enhance safety, building on record-low shootings from January to July 2025.
