Xavier Millette was deep in thought at Science North’s “Imagineering” exhibit at the Timmins Public Library on Thursday.

The 9-year old from Timmins was building a truck out of lego, carefully duplicating a model provided at the travelling event, designed to teach children fine motor skill activities, forces of gravity, patterns, symmetry and construction.

“I learned that if I become an engineer one day I could make mistakes, too,” he said, adding he fixed it, but “I started off with it backwards!”

Jenna Patterson, STEM lead for Science North’s Sault Ste. Marie office, said the Sudbury-based centre has had outreach teams for 35 years. They currently have teams in the Soo, Sudbury and Thunder Bay.
