An animal abuse case that has been making its way through Macomb County Circuit Court for more than a year was dismissed Thursday when Judge Julie Gatti ruled that the case should have been filed in Oakland County.

Attorney William Branch, representing defendant Karman Schooly, who appeared at the hearing via Zoom, filed a motion for reconsideration and made his case to Gatti regarding a change of venue.

Schooly, 47, of Waterford was charged in Macomb County with felony counts of impersonating a veterinarian, animal cruelty and abandonment and a misdemeanor count of operating an unlicensed animal shelter in Pontiac.
