This weekend and early next week would be a good time to slap on sunscreen or find some shade as the hot weather is going to stick around for a while.

On Friday, Environment and Climate Change Canada warned of a “multi-day heat event” for Niagara. Starting Saturday, daytime highs are expected to reach 30-33 C, with humidex values of 35-40 C.

Nights will bring limited relief, as overnight lows are only expected to dip to between 19 and 23 C.

Things are expected to cool down a bit by Wednesday, with the daytime high forecast to be around 27 C.

Heat alerts are issued when there are two or more consecutive days of maximum temperatures of 31 C or more, when nighttime minimums stay at 20 C or warmer and there are humidex values of 40 C or higher.
