LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Pickleball continues to be the fastest rising sport in America, popular with beginners, experts and anyone in between.

“It’s kind of a combination of tennis, ping pong, and badminton and played on a court, very similar to a tennis court, although much smaller.”

Andy Carter is the head coach over at Lubbock Indoor Pickleball. He says pickleball has skyrocketed in popularity, and one event in recent history helped push it more mainstream.

“If something good came out of COVID, I think it was a real blessing to pickleball,” Carter said. “COVID got a lot of people looking for sports that they could be outdoors and socially distanced. It then kind of spread to all different age groups and everybody started playing the game.”
