DOBBINS, Calif. —

A contractor who was working on behalf of the Yuba Water Agency on Thursday died after an accident involving construction equipment, the agency said.

Yuba Water Agency said the worker was operating construction equipment near the New Colgate Powerhouse in Dobbins when the equipment fell down an embankment.

The agency has not yet identified the worker or shared additional details about the accident.

"We are just devastated and are still processing what exactly happened," said general manager Willie Whittlesey in a statement. "Our hearts are with the family, friends and coworkers who are suffering through unimaginable loss, and with our own staff who supported the accident response today."
