Showers and storms have been mostly absent around Jacksonville this evening. A few showers late tonight are expected to return as the rain flows in off the east coast overnight.

Weekend: Both Saturday and Sunday will bring plenty of showers and thunderstorms, and some could drop heavy rain. Winds coming in off the Atlantic will push storms inland, but they’ll be moving slowly — meaning a greater chance for localized flooding. Some spots could pick up 2 to 5 inches of rain, with a few areas seeing even more. With clouds and rain around, highs will stay in the upper 80s for northeast Florida and mid-80s for southeast Georgia. Lows will be in the low to mid-70s.
