KINGSTON, N.Y. — Over 4,700 county employees, retirees, and their dependents have been notified after a 2024 data breach involving the vendor that administers Ulster County government employee benefits, a county official said.
Assistant Deputy County Executive Amberly Jane Campbell said in an email that approximately 4,720 individuals were notified following the breach affecting the Alera Group , a consultant used by the county to administer employee benefits.
Campbell said affected parties include both current and former county employees, as well as their dependents.
Campbell went on to say the breach was “very concerning,” adding that information involved in the breach included names, birthdates, social security numbers, and in some cases, sensitive medical information. In a follow-
