LOUISVILLE, Ky. — For years, Asad Ali tried to make a better life for his family.
On Friday, his efforts to achieve the “American Dream” came true.
The 39-year-old stood in what will soon be his family’s first home.
Ali came to the United States from Somalia in 2022 and, through Habitat for Humanity , he bought the home late last year.
“I never give up to get my own house, and I’m very happy right now. At least I’m standing in my house. Thanks for Habitat, for everyone who helped,” Ali said.
The Ali family were the guests of honor at a ground blessing of their new home. It was part of Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville’s 40th anniversary celebration.
“It makes me feel very happy,” Ali said.
