Metro Vancouverites will experience some warmer-than-average temperatures this weekend, but a heat wave isn't expected.

Environment Canada meteorologist Brian Proctor tells V.I.A. the sun has returned to the Lower Mainland after an "unsettled" week with some rain.

"We are just coming out of that trend as a ridge of high pressure starts building," he explains. "But it's not setting up to be a big blocking condition or heat dome."

Rather than a major heat event, temperatures should start gradually warming heading out of the weekend.

On Friday, Aug. 8, temperatures are expected to average largely around seasonal, with a high of 22 C and a low of 13 C. Saturday's forecast includes similar temperatures, although inland temperatures may reach a high of 26 C, Proctor notes.
