SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. -- A woman who stabbed a classmate to please the fictional character Slender Man will not be sent to a Sun Prairie facility after all.

Morgan Geyser, 23, was set to be released from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute to a facility in Sun Prairie after a judge approved a plan last week. However, in a letter Friday Geyser's attorney Anthony Cotton said the move won't be happening.

"Unfortunately, due to the publicity surrounding that placement, the facility has now declined to receive Ms. Geyser," Cotton said. "As such, DHS is forced to look for an alternative placement."

Cotton said he believed a new facility could be selected without a formal hearing. When the Wisconsin Department of Health Services identifies a new facility for Geyser, the court will be notified.
