ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - An Abilene man has been accused of a child sex crime with a Clyde teen he was talking to on a social media app.

Emilio Fernandez was booked into the Callahan County Jail Friday for Sexual Assault of a Child in connection to the allegations.

A press release from the Clyde Police Department reveals the family members called police Thursday to report their concerns, and detectives were able to determine Fernandez was using a social media app to communicate with the teen a facilitate a meet up.

The Clyde Police Department is offering parents the following tips for online safety in light of this event:

1. Understand the Apps being used, know how to navigate them and their capabilities.

2. Set rules for the use of the Apps.

3. Ensure you children are not sharin
