GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — What was once a historical industrial factory in Grand Rapids is being turned into a 35-unit loft-style apartment complex, part of a trend of repurposing older buildings.
Jack Garrett, the director of investment for Pinnacle Construction Group, says it’s an effective approach to adding housing.
“There’s a tremendous need for housing, period, in GR. We’re looking at all avenues to provide housing to folks, and one such way is repurposing old buildings," he said. "One of the advantages for that is hopefully some cost savings, ultimately resulting in lower rents for folks."
