HOPKINS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — An Illinois-based animal welfare group says video it recorded last month shows a cockfighting ring in Allegan County.
The drone footage recorded by Showing Animals Respect and Kindness, or SHARK, shows people throwing barely-moving roosters into a wheelbarrow and multiple people violently hitting the birds.
“We got information about a cockfight that was going to happen outside of Hopkins,” Steve Hindi, president of SHARK, told News 8.
So on the morning of July 26, his team went to record video of what was going on.
"They were definitely holding a cockfight," Hindi said.
News 8 has blurred SHARK's footage to obscure the faces of the people because as of Friday, no criminal charges had been filed in the case.
