AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is now accepting applications for the Texas Compassionate Use Program (CUP) expansion for medical marijuana dispensing licenses.

Dispensaries can apply for the program from now until Sept. 15. Anyone looking to apply must use this application .

During the 89th Texas Legislative Session, lawmakers passed House Bill 46, which expands the CUP in Texas.

DPS will issue 12 new medical marijuana dispensary licenses. During Phase I of the process, DPS will issue nine licenses to existing applicants who applied in 2023 . However, the applicants will still have to update their application before the Sept. 15 deadline.
