CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - The Missouri State Highway Patrol is reminding drivers of changes in traffic to help keep students safe as the school year starts.
More than 800 crashes involving a school bus were recorded in 2024, resulting in 345 injuries and 7 deaths in the state of Missouri.
As construction continues in Cape County, officials are urging extra caution around school buses, reminding drivers of the risks involved when cutting a bus off.
Cape Girardeau Public Schools says that school zone safety is a team effort, calling on the community to be aware.
“We believe in being proactive instead of reactive. We would much rather do more work on the front end and keep our kids safe than have to come back and tragically, sadly, deal with an accident that has happened,” says Josh
