PORTLAND, Maine — Sen. Susan Collins is working to secure funding to support a local Maine organization that provides peer recovery support group services to people recovering from substance use disorder.
The Maine senator is backing a congressionally directed spending bill that, if passed, will provide Portland Recovery Community Center with more than $2.5 million will soon be considered by the House of Representatives and Senate.
Directors and board members from PRCC said the funding will be used to build a new family and friends community center and expand the organization's recovery support group services.
