The Orioles unexpectedly placed outfielder Colton Cowser on the 7-day concussion injured list on Friday, retroactive to Thursday. Interim manager Tony Mansolino said the concussion stemmed from a play Cowser made during Wednesday’s 5-1 win at the Phillies during his catch of Harrison Bader’s flyout to deep left in the sixth.

“Very mild in nature is the hope right now,” Mansolino said. “No timeline on it, but I would probably hope, speculate that it won’t be any more than the minimum.”

The move came among a handful of transactions, including the activation of Ryan Mountcastle from the 60-day IL. Outfielder Tyler O'Neill was also placed on the IL with right wrist inflammation, retroactive to Wednesday, and Jordyn Adams was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk.
