CHARLOTTE, Mich. (WILX) - On Friday, the Eaton County Board of Commissioners held a “Special Budget Meeting” as the board looked to finalize its recommended cuts and reductions.
The Barry-Eaton District Health Department funding was approved at almost $450,000, a decrease of 50%. Meanwhile law enforcement saw cuts to services, coming out of county road patrols, which County Sheriff Tom Reich said, “are needed.”
Also seeing cuts, was funding for Clinton-Eaton-Ingham Community Mental Health.
At the end of July, the Eaton County Board of Commissioners proposed a 100% cut of Clinton-Eaton-Ingham Community Mental Health. However, state law doesn’t allow mental health to go completely defunded.
