ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque woman apologized in court Friday as she was sentenced to more than two decades behind bars after she handed her teenage son a gun and told him to shoot a woman she was arguing with.
A jury found Kristina Withrow guilty of second-degree murder in April. The family of the victim, Monique Garcia, spoke in court on Friday and said all they have left of their loved one are memories.
“She has three kids that I have to raise now—my wife. I just raised my kids, now I have to raise hers. She took a life,” said Garcia’s father.
On Friday, Judge David Murphy sentenced Kristina Withrow to 26 years behind bars. A jury convicted her of second-degree murder for the shooting death of 31-year-old Monique Garcia, who was homeless, even though she wasn't the one w
