A five-year-old British girl has died after being pulled unconscious from a swimming pool during a family holiday in Spain.
The incident happened at a complex in the municipality of Pájar on Thursday. She was pulled from the water before the pool's lifeguard attempted to resuscitate her.
Once stabilised, she was transferred to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura and then sent by helicopter to Gran Canaria.
She was brought to the Maternal and Child University Hospital of Las Palmas, Gran Canaria but medics were unable to save her.
The girl became 'irreversibly brain dead' after drowning in the pool, it is reported.
