SHAKOPEE, Minn. — There won't be any delays at the start of the Minnesota Renaissance Festival this year, but it will look different after a fire in April destroyed six buildings.
“About half of them were food for the Renaissance Festival, and half of them were shops owned by our amazing craft people,” said entertainment director Eric Thompson.
He said the fire was hard and took away places they’ll miss.
“We’re hoping that despite a bit of stress and a little bit of worry, that what we’ll end up with this year will be moving in a good direction, so we’re excited,” he said.
Thompson said they are working to replace what was lost.
“It’s a monumental effort on top of planning everything that we normally have, so there are never enough hours in the day, so we do what we can,” Thompson
