A former LAPD officer and reserve officer was arrested this week - while he was out on bail and awaiting trial on an insurance fraud case.
Eric Halem, who joined the Department in the 1990s and left full-time employment in 2022, was being held with no bail, according to jail records.

The LAPD declined Friday to explain his detention.
"The Los Angeles Police Department can confirm that the recent arrest of former LAPD reserve officer Eric Halem is not related to the Department's investigation into residential burglaries in the West Valley," the statement said referring to another news report.
