Flags on the Laurentian campus were lowered Aug. 1 in memory of decades of contributions to the community and university by professor emeritus Graeme Stewart Mount.

Mount passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on July 22, in Victoria, B.C., just four days shy of his 86th birthday.

Mount first graduated from McGill University and then took his MA and doctoral degrees at the University of Toronto. His wife, Joan, also taught at Laurentian. Mount retired in 2005.

An excellent educator, his skill was recognized in 2000 with the Teacher of the Year award for his dedication to his students.
