CHARLESTON, Ill. (WCIA) -- When Eastern Illinois takes the field against Dayton on August 28, it will be hard to find someone more excited than Joey Sprinkle.

The Monticello native will make his return to college football after redshirting last season with the Panthers. He transferred to EIU after playing two seasons at St. Ambrose, an NAIA program in Davenport, Iowa.

Finding the groove of high-level college football did not come easily, especially with the added challenge of moving from quarterback to tight end, but Sprinkle refuses to give up.
