FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A lot of North Carolinians are left with high electric bills after weeks of above 90-degree temperatures.
Utility companies say air conditioners account for most of the energy usage in homes during the summertime. High electric bills are even breaking the budget and bank for some families.
Electric companies say there are relief options, including payment plans, if you can't afford the bill. They do urge customers to call customer service before the bill is due to find out their options.
